Initially, I realised that the style I usually draw in was one of anime: it wouldn't really work for this assignment. This means that throughout this assignment, I will also have to develop the skill of drawing with different styles. Because I wanted something cute, I decided to mainly look into children shows for 3D animation styles. I noticed that many of them used the shape language we learned about in the first semester: the main feature being rounded shapes.
I also looked into how I could morph my character from cute to scary and mainly saw that this was achieved through how differently the character would express themselves. Examples include the character Shin from a Korean Webtoon, he looks rather innocent (...) then turns into a disturbing looking cat. Another example would be Rize from the Tokyo Ghoul series: that change from feminine to vicious! >.>
On the other side, I began searching up a few pose references for the scene from Breakfast at Tiffany's by looking at poses of a style I'm used to drawing already. A few reference images for the prop (most likely a skull) were gathered along with more expressions regarding how the character could look at the end of the animation. (Bel from KHR and Kagura from Gintama)
Looking at this....it is nowhere NEAR enough -.-;;; I'm definitely going to have to do continuous research throughout the entire assignment and I plan to upload more as I go along.
I plan to upload images of initial sketches tomorrow after I scan them in!
